Solstice – down turns – pendulums – “futures” – markers or segments of time.  Wherever you are in the individual segment of human life – usually considered to top at 70 to 100-years – you have an understanding of the “normal” changes that will take place within you in the foreseeable future.  Most of us know about the statistics of different diseases and are still shocked when it happens to us or ours personally.  Magazine writers even pretend shock that it also happens to Hollywood stars, the wealthy, other countries’ royalty, etc.

Regardless how well you take care of yourself, your birth-place or modern medicine, life will find a way to get rid of you, somehow, some day.  Sci-fi books and movies often act like the “end of mankind” would be a cataclysm – only for man, the Earth has always found a new species.  The dinosaurs would have saved dinosaur-kind if they could have.

Sound harsh?  Now, go out, put your arms up in victory, then jump and yell, “THIS is my life-time!”

This what a tarot reading does.  A minute look at a part of your this-life-time.  To have a reading, you’re already trying to look at yourself from “outside the box.”  You go to someone else so your desires don’t get in the way of reading what the cards say instead of what you think you want.

First, only go to someone you’re going to accept what s/he says.  If it isn’t the answer you wanted, it doesn’t mean the reader is wrong.  Second, look at your life in perspective – family, work, home, country, world, universe.  You can look at your own ‘events’ – new relationships, meeting and losing people and things (jobs, possessions, etc.,) illnesses, etc. quite differently if it isn’t seen so personal.

Summer solstice is a marker for the Earth and a time of heightened Human awareness.  Drumming, or however you mark solstice, takes a minute to be aware of the Current.

The Oral Tradition: you've often heard the term, particularly
in regard to the esoteric; while it does mean handed down from one
person to another, there is SO much more to an Oral Tradition than
merely one person teaching another.

An oral tradition includes how much background knowledge one
has before formal training. Some oral traditions include how one
was brought up: a co-worker once lamented to me that he had not
brought his daughter up Jewish; he said she was a Jew but wasn't
Jewish (his words.) It is much the same for people who are Black
brought up in Caucasian homes. Pre-Americans know straight-out if
someone grew up in The Community or are City. It's a way oflooking
at the world that is "confused" or mixed if one did not grow into
it.

The pip cards are the human community. The suits are genetic
families, the court and numbered cards the interacting members. You
may not know even who your great-grandfather's siblings children are,
you still have genetic commonalities, and you'd be amazed at the
traits similarities. The trump cards are forces more like the Sun,
Moon, planets and stars: they've been there since before Adam, our
position to them has simply changed, they haven't. The oral traditions
explain world forces and interactions in ways that changing languages
can not convey in written form understandable through-out time; that's
why we have "up-dated" versions of Bibles and why people have to be
taught to read Shakespeare. It's also why Peruvian peasants known more
about astronomy than most college educated "Yankees."  The oral
tradition helps keep you out of head drama and vanity, too.

Learning tarot on your own means you have to hear each book as
someone speaking with you, you also have to surround yourself with
several people (books) to listen to more than one voice. Few normal
people grow up having known only one other real person. Suggestion:
read out loud some books, particularly tomes like those of Westcott,
Waite, Mathers, Ouspensky, Dion Fortune, Case, Regardie and Robert Wang.

Tarot and skrying are among the most asked questions I receive.

Skrying has nothing to do with gaming, game card collecting or metal bands.  Some claim it is a form of astral projection; although I disagree, on a basic level, astral projection and skrying have more in common than different.

Skrying places are vortices on Earth where one (not limited to the human) can see many dimensions, universally in   a moment's comprehension and understanding.  Tarot cards are designed as schema or plans to this higher knowledge;     it was considered that when a seeker had enough knowledge, the tarot correspondences would create/form a skrying place for understanding and wisdom.  One can have the understanding of something without the wisdom of its' proper use.

Proper tarot cards, including both major- and minor-arcana, allow a seeker to grow in knowledge, understanding and wisdom of the "situations" one is reading.  2 + 2 still = 4, it is two of what plus 2 of what else creating an individual's paths or create a whole new 'thing' comprised of 4 somethings.  Fire (wands) will evaporate a small amount of water, a large amount of water will put out a fire.

In a 7-card reading the cards have meaning by where they are positioned, by how they correspond together and a further meaning by how they place within Time.  Sociologists and psychologists will tell you birth order makes a great difference to a child:  a reading for a young woman that only stated she would have children is a 50/50 guess; a reading that suggests she has a number of children under favorable economic conditions would be a step up; a reading that suggests how many children, their gender and that she will be a grandmother and live to see a great-grandchild is seeing beyond present "wants" and requires a level beyond the psychic; it takes a different level of seeing.

If you consider the people you know or have met, you usually sense who is "talking out of his/her hat" and who actually knows his/her subject.  How?  Why?  It is a form of 'second voice,' yet; how do you know?  Skrying is not limited to the visual.  That concept takes a lot of pondering to understand.

Can there be accidental skryings?  Yes!  They too often un-balance people.  Fanatics, zealots and hate mongers sometimes have this common experience.

Skrying is also a link or step for those willing to actually work at Being.

                                                                                                                                        08/21/07

                ***********************************************************************

"Stigmata" in western culture are generally confined to a narrow Christian phenomena; narrow because it is seldom heard of outside the Roman Catholic church.  The term 'stigmata' is from the Latin and is singular and plural; the use of the form "stigmatas" here is to convey that spiritual physical signs are not limited to the Roman Catholic sect of Christianity.  Other religions note human physical marks to indicate a Divine-human interaction/communication also.

The major significance of stigmatas is they can happen to the most saintly and the absolute least saintly.  Think of someone you sincerely do not like:  what signs would allow you to believe this person had been touched by the Holy?  What would change your beliefs in your opinions and perceptions of the person?  What signs/aura in a person of any currently unpopular religion would allow you to break through what you know and see a person as more spiritual than you?  Stigmatas are usually reduced by psychologism to mere psychological disorders.  The difference is in the aura, or demeanor, of a person.  Can you tell the difference between someone who faints and someone who pretends to faint?  There's a lot of difference, however, many people can not.

In Tarot, stigmatas are seen in the major arcana working through the pip (numbered) cards.  The next few years may produce a considerable  amount of stigmatas around the world in our era of wars and rumors of wars.

             Stigmas

"Fat" children, your accent, your race, your social status, your car: the latest newsbabble is how "fat" children are stigmatized by age three (3.)  By whom?  If they're stigmatized, it's in YOUR mind.  The quotes are because "fat" can be anything from five pounds over skeleton or 75-pounds over average weight-to-height.  My personal likes and dislikes prefer looks within a range, however, one doesn't treat the child - or any other person - with less respect because of their current weight.  Children, especially, often go through chubby phases.

Tarot is all about images.  The images of the cards.  Images contain something of the truth.  Stigmas are images in peoples' minds; stigmas can come and go -they're a type of fad.  It was once a stigma to be too thin, to be from a different part of the country, a divorced woman, a child born outside of marriage or from parents of different religions, a different race, religion, etc.; all things that were supposedly innate and the negativity passed on:  all these images have changed over time, they were not real, definitely not innate.  Tarot images based on the real science of Tarot stays the same, regardless the era.  The shadows of the real images - cultural dress, accessories (how many today would understand a mace -weapon- used in clubs?) - may change, the images themselves do not, they carry reality.  That is why all the new 'pretty' cards are only for psychics who need props.  Be certain when you're having a tarot reading, it's a Tarot reading.

More on stigmatas will be added next week.       07/12/07

...if you believe in forever this life is just a one-night stand....                                                                                                     (Rock'n roll Heaven - The Righteous Brothers)

Coming Soon.  A new, down-loadable primer for the true beginner of tarot.  This book, "A Primer of Tarot," is designed to allow anyone to understand basic tarot and have enough knowledge to find good resources to go further or, to just stop without any residual negativity.

A quiz, which is part of the book is listed in the "News" section.  Take the quiz; if you can answer 80% of the questions, you do not need the Primer.

You have to have a good view of "The World" to truly study tarot.  Tarot is a system that encompasses more than the world of Earth:  you give up the "G-d is an earth-man" view to study tarot.

If you're looking to study "just enough tarot to read for a psychic or tarot hot-line" - go somewhere else!

There are several good tarot decks for reading, once you know enough to know WHY a particular deck is good or just pretty.  If you want to do psychic reading, do not use pretty cards and call it a tarot reading.  Real psychics do not need promps.  There are real psychics; subjects like clairvoyance, clairaudiance, etc. are not started until the intermediate tarot class.

A syllabus, book list and movie list is listed under "news."  If you have any questions, please call the above number.
